These children and young adults even parents, need to learn about God and Jesus Christ. Get back to the Bible and learn how to live without all this nonsense. Actually talk to friends and family face to face. Texting has got to be the worst way to have a conversation when they've got a phone right in their hands. Call who ever you're going to text, it's just as easy.
Restart with the Bible and God and Jesus Christ, you'll see it's a better way of life .
Such a great film to educate parents and help them to open up their eyes to online dangers! All the reason why as an Internet Crimes Against Children Investigator I have educated on the importance of no devices in the Bedroom or Bathroom! Be the Parent and Be aware of what they are doing and who they are talking to. Bark is an amazing tool to intercept inappropriate content. Having conversations with your child around these dangers and letting them know that they can talk to you is still important!! Like Brian says catching one or two of these predators is just a fish in an ocean, educating and equipping our kids to make safer choices online is key!!
great work!
I can say that social media has a much smaller impact on kids playing outside than the removal of parks in cities to instead build giant appartment complexes for families with kids to live in. I was born in 94 and I didn't have a park near my appartment complex. Everything was already covered in concrete, and in front of the building, you simply can't let a kid play. And you can't let your kids play in the city wihtout a supervisor, in general. It's the reason I spent most time indoors, because my parents simply didn't have time to walk me to a place far awal and sit there until I was finished running around. There still aren't enough parks and playing grounds in my city area. You can blame the internet, but where was the internet in the 90s when I grew up? We had the same issues as kids and teens. When I was a teen, I met up with my friends indoors most of the time, too. And we didn't have smartphones back then!
very useful documentary. I wish we had more of these
another video on the internet that made me so glad I went to an all girls school and didn't have social media till I was 16 yikes
Love the heart-felt appeal at the end, 'our children do need to hear how much we love them'.
As a 32 year old millennial, I’m so grateful to have known what life was like pre-internet times. We still played outside during our childhood and during our tween/teen years saw the rise of the internet, how it shaped the world and still knew how to navigate it all. Our generation was really during that transitional period so it was a nice medium. I remember actually talking on the phone for hours with friends and sending handwritten letters to them in the mail. Social media didn’t even really take off until my sophomore year of high school (2005) starting with MySpace and Facebook gaining popularity during senior year (2007). I can’t even imagine what teens have to go through now. The need to post every & anything and sharing the most intimate parts of your life (and body) is so toxic. It’s unfortunate that that’s a world you guys have to live in. Great documentary to say the least! The ending almost had me teary-eyed thinking about my future children.
While I understand the complications of social media and the abuse on children, one must not forget way before media Young girls were still abused by family members and close friends. It's just that now they are more visible due to social media and the people that are supposed to protect these kind are more focused on making money. This may not change unless we all speak about the abuse on kids in all cultures. Piriod
You can still have a phone to contact your friends. You are not required to use social media.
I deleted all social media. Facebook and Instagram too. And many of my friends did same. And life is better!
Anxiety and depression. That’s what it leads to eventually.
A Simpson quote spring to mind:
"And that's how we, the greatest generation, raised you, the worst generation" ~ Abe Simpson
Why am I seeing this now?! 💔
I grew up without internet born in 87 life was fun without internet 🙃
This could be one of the most important films of the decade. I hope a lot of people see it.
This conversation is too important – it should take place at home and in schools.
i’m 17 and i deleted every single one of my social media in the last weeks, plus the accounts. now it’s youtube’s turn. to delete my youtube’s account i’d have to delete google too, so right now i’m just removing the app. bye bye, idk if i’ll ever come back
Excellent documentary, spread this far and wide.
Count how many times you hear the word "Like" in this video. Like Its literally like every other word…like wow…
The dummying down on teenagers!
Why blur the predators photos?
I gave my daughter a phone in 8th grade so I knee when to pick her up after play rehearsals. Most of her friends already had it. I regret giving it to her so early.
I discovered a lot of the wrong reading material in the late 70s. It traumatized me and I still remember the pictures and stories. I was under 10 with the reading ability of an adult.
Gonna watch this by myself and then I’ll watch it with my daughter and have a talk with her afterwards and come up with a plan so we both can unplug more
came here to say my child will jot.be on scocial media till they are like 14
Whole lot of things to be consider in the very world about you and family already. Introducing any gadgets with out limitation is like you are slowly poisoning yours and children life. Firstly think why our childrens need electronice devices how much time parents are spending with children. How much time children spend on these gadgets?. How much time parents spent time on their devices. If you see time usage on electronic devices are higher with no good reasons, thats where you need to realise alarms are about to go off.
Relax!! These kids will grow up just fine.
Please translate this in more different languages! So many parents are buying technology tools for their kids and they are clueless what they are exposing their kids to!
I've been social media clean for 4 years and I love it
This is a very important documentary, please add Brazilian Portuguese subs on it
10:53 whaaaat???? How do you people live like this?
5 likes per sentence …
Wow! This is so scary and Gross. What kind of boys is society raising? What sort of future are our kids facing when physically and emotionally they are showing up with their pants down ready for service. Jesus ! Very alarming as a society the conditioning of our kids and the adults they will be become. Will they know love or how to care and be present in a loving connection with others ? Will they show up for themselves or the people they connect with? Will that be even a value ?
Wow!
So much was spoken here. Thanks to all responsible for the making of this film.
…and still no action against social media
There are big changes coming & I hope you are all ready
Thank you for this documentary. Very eye-opening!
To all the lids watching this now, there is so ,inch more to life than these apps. There is a whole world out there waiting for you to discover it. Go, go do something new, go see something new, go make new friends, just GO! Good luck out there! Have fun! Make MEMORIES, not photo ops! I can’t wait to hear your stories!
''Get them while they're young'' the best business idea, McDonalds has been doing it or decades.
had some truth to it, the online bullies are natures way to get people un addicted to the social media
Can someone count the amount of times these kids said "like" just in this video?
I’m from the 90s and I’m so glad that I’m from the last generation that actually had a real childhood
The amount of things I've seen on the internet and stuff I've been asked and I'm only 16 years old. This documentary is amazing at informing people about the dangers of the internet and showing that parents need to be aware of what their child is doing. Unfortunately, my parents weren't like that and I've been scarred, but at least I learned from it and know that If I have children in the future, I'll have the information needed to protect them.
GREAT documentary. I am SO happy to see the awareness of something that I have been telling people for years has finally come to light! Continue this fight! I commend you Bark both for what you do and will do in the future.
The internet will completely ruin society,,,but it's the people using it,,,the internet just speeds up the ruin.
